A message from Clerk Karnes:

As we begin 2026, I want to take a moment to thank you for your support. From the entire Lee County Clerk & Comptroller team, we appreciate you and the opportunity to serve our community. 2025 was such a great year, and I am excited for all that we will accomplish in 2026! Our goal is always to be 1% better, and we strive to achieve this each and every day.

It was an honor to kick off 2025 and begin my new term as Lee County’s Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller after being reelected. Immediately following my swearing in, I had the distinct honor of deputizing my team in a ceremony that took place on the steps of the old Lee County Courthouse. It was a wonderful day!

We continued our year with significant achievements, including hosting and attending dozens of community events, growing our Property Fraud Alert subscribers, putting on another highly successful Financial Wellness Summit, and shredding more than 13,000 pounds of confidential documents at our Big Shred events.

For 2026, we plan on doing all of that again and more, plus continuing to expand the county auditor role, increase transparency in county spending, elevate cybersecurity and combat property fraud.

We have some exciting projects coming up this year too! I’m proud to share that our office will soon be launching the Sand Dollar Snapshot, an interactive website that’s designed to help community members better understand how county funds are managed and spent. Stay tuned! We’ll be announcing more about this initiative in the next few months.  I couldn’t be more excited for what 2026 holds. Thank you again for all of your support.
