Quantum Fiber is now in NW Cape Coral
New Fiber Optic Internet Service for the NW Cape!
Hi Members,
I wanted to share this important update with all of you! The trucks and workers you see all around the NW Cape belong to subcontractors working for Lumen, known locally as Centurylink, and are installing fiber optic lines for: |
Quantum Fiber Internet Service
Remember this video that was posted recently as I videotaped the subcontractors installing the internet infrastructure in front of my house?
The installation will be ready for a residential hookup by the end of August in some areas. It will provide us with lightning speeds of up to 940 Mbps unlimited data 99.99% reliability, and no annual contracts for $65 per month. The remaining areas will follow accordingly.
I have been told that anyone using the Quantum Fiber Enrollment Link provided below to sign up for service by Sept 30th, will also be eligible for a $100 gift card regardless of their installation date.
Please feel free to visit the Quantum Fiber website for additional information and details, address verification, and/or to sign up for your service by clicking the link below.
Some areas may be presented with the message below, that Quantum Fiber is scheduled to be available soon. This allows for a Quantum fiber installation order to be scheduled in advance, so when Quantum fiber service is available, they may be one of the first homes to be installed when that area is activated with Quantum fiber services.
As well, some addresses may not reflect the ability to schedule Quantum fiber service. This deployment is a large endeavor that the residents of Northwest Cape Coral have been eagerly awaiting. As is visible across Northwest Cape Coral daily, Quantum fiber crews are placing service infrastructure to expedite service availability.

Broadband Update from Comcast - Aug 2022
Your Secretary's Notes
Hi Members:
I wanted to share this latest update with all of you! This is the official statement received from Comcast: Comcast has begun installing its Xfinity services to homes in the Gator Circle area in the northeast part of the city. More neighborhoods will be launching over the next few weeks. Once the expansion of Comcast's state-of-the-art network is complete later this year, high-speed Xfinity internet services will be available throughout all of Cape Coral for the first time! Residents can expect a notification in their mail from Xfinity to let them know their home is now ready to get service. They are expected to complete the expansion by the end of the year.

Broadband Installation In the NW Cape
It's Coming Right Along on Schedule!
This is the actual process of how the fiber optic cables are strung up along the telephone lines. These gentlemen were working all weekend to help make this happen faster for the residents. The ones in this video were from AT & T but others seen around the NW Cape were from Centurylink.
I have asked the city to verify what companies are involved and how the process is progressing and have not heard back yet. When I do I will send out an update for you all!
It won't be long now!

High-Speed Internet Service Update
Good Afternoon!
The U.S. Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced today that it has received more than 230 applications for the Broadband Infrastructure Program, for a total of more than $2.5 billion in funding requests across 49 states and U.S. territories. The city of Cape Coral applied for this grant in August 2021. See NTIA Grant Information below.
As you can see from the attached article this is a highly competitive grant. The city feels they submitted a very good grant application, but there are so many places that are in need of broadband infrastructure.
In Florida, applications were submitted from Monroe, Martin, and Indian River counties. Cape Coral was the only Florida city to submit an application.
NTIA expects to complete its review, selection of successful applicants, and award processing by November 15, 2021. NTIA expects the earliest start date for awards to be November 29, 2021.
Note: The city had a positive meeting with one of the broadband vendors this week. They are not at liberty to discuss the details of the meeting, however, as soon as the NWNA receives an update it will be immediately communicated to our members.

Broadband Summary - COW Meeting
Internet Service Summary
Members,
A presentation was made to members of the Cape Coral City Council regarding the current state of broadband in the city. The Committee of the Whole (COW) meeting took place yesterday afternoon, in council chambers.
After making their presentation, their final recommendation was to pursue a public-private-partnership (P3) with one of the current ISP providers in our area, Comcast, Lumen (formally Centurylink), or Summit Broadband.
Following the Q&A period, the Council agreed to support the P3 option and directed them to immediately start the process of drawing up the contract documentation detailing the conditions for the RFP and timeline for implementation.
They all agreed that the need was immediate and the NW Cape would be the first area to receive service once the contract is signed.
The Mayor asked that the city have the final contract ready for the Council's final review and approval within the next six months.

Here is the video from the COW Meeting showing the Citizens Input, the city's presentation to the Council, the full Q&A period, and the Council's final decision.

Internet Service Input Meeting
Members,
The city will present the current state of broadband in the Cape as we understand it, some information on the existing providers, and some options to consider for improving internet service in Cape Coral, especially in the Northwest.
Then, they will provide a recommendation and have a discussion and answer questions regarding each option. They would then expect the Council to give some direction about which option(s) they prefer to be pursued further.
The NWNA feels this is a very important meeting and we want to strongly encourage you and any other residents that live in your neighborhood or in the NW Cape that have struggled with slow or intermittent internet speed to voice your concerns.
Please consider the following:
• Attend the May 26 Council Meeting at 3:00 PM in Council Chambers to support this effort and if you feel comfortable doing so, speak during the 60-minute Citizens Input.
• Send in an email directly to the Council:
mailto:citycouncil@capecoral.netCOW Agenda
Your opinion matters and this is your opportunity to share it regarding internet service.
